In Milwaukee, WI during the doldrums of winter 2021, I got together and made a short documentary with my friend Amii, who saves every Post-It Note she has ever come in contact with. It’s a seemingly odd hobby but her reasons and introspection allowed me to make and create in an otherwise stagnant stretch of the year.
Just in time for International Women’s Day, ”The Collector” just received an Honorable Mention at the Women’s International Film Festival 2022. This short is still making its way through the festival circuit so check back here later this year to see it!
Speaking of International Women’s Day, another favorite project from my past comes to mind. In Boston in 2016, I did the cinematography for a short titled “Like Pain, Like Cigarette” that premiered at the Short Film Corner of the Festival De Cannes 2017. Director Maryam Zahirimehr led an all-woman crew through a rigorous but wonderful several day shoot and created this stirring short about youth and the weight of trauma and war. She was a delight to work with and you can view it here.
